ERIN
STYLE DIRECTOR.
“I love using colour and placement to create texture, to compliment skin tones, to make the colour of people’s eyes really pop and to give an “edge” to a classic haircut. It’s such a versatile medium with which to create, it’s exciting.”
With more than 11 years experience, Erin’s love for hair endures.
WHAT/WHO INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO THE INDUSTRY?
I think it was punk music and alternative subculture that inspired me to start hairdressing, the colours, the cuts, the idea that you could shave half your head, dye it leopard print, and be glamorous and femme, fascinated me. The idea that hair was another form of self-expression, another fashion accessory. I’m still inspired by fashion, androgyny, music, film, architecture, art.. to name a few things.
WHAT MAKES A GREAT SALON EXPERIENCE?
I think a great salon experience comes from a few different factors; connecting with a stylist who really listens to you, takes the time to understand your personal style, lifestyle, and budget and can work with you to tailor a style just for you, and warm, welcoming customer service.
WHAT KEEPS YOU INSPIRED?
I’m constantly cruising Instagram for inspiration, seeing live music, theatre, films, reading, going to galleries, connecting with my community, looking around the streets, people watching, flicking through magazines, checking out street art, spending time with people I love; these constant sources of inspiration keep me motivated to create, but mostly keep me grounded in my goal to make people feel like they’re set to slay.
BEST PART OF WORKING AT CARLY SPRING HAIR SALON?
Having such a highly skilled team around you to bounce things off is always great, and I get inspired watching Carly and my workmates create and I think that’s really important, to be inspired by the work around you! Plus everyone is really lovely and great fun, which is always sublime to be around.
